She pursued her PhD at Les Afriques dans le Monde, Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Bordeaux, analyzing the political dynamics related to the creation of heritage institutions such as museums, mausoleums and heroes’ square in Kenya. Her research focuses on the actors of the heritage sphere who occupy an intermediary position in political negotiations and public decision-making in the Kenyan Rift Valley. Her research further investigates the politics of historical narratives and memorialization in Kenya and the growing salience of ethnic identities in the political sphere.
Currently, her work focuses on the impact of Kenya’s Devolution on local power relations and governance, with a particular interest in the transformations of clientelism networks and the political role of traditional authorities in Kenya.
