Vincent Sima Olé – Intern 2018

Vincent Sima Ole is IFRA’s intern and comes both from Paris (France) and Libreville (Gabon). He is a Master’s student in Political Science at Sciences Po Paris, specializing in comparative politics on sub-Saharan Africa. He is interested in the ways sexual minorities or other disadvantaged communities and groups – such as slum dwellers – organize, mobilize and fight for their rights in major African cities. In his Master’s thesis, Vincent will explore to what extent activists in contemporary Libreville contribute to shaping political awareness among slum dwellers based on urban criteria, as these groups put forward a spatial understanding of Gabonese postcolonial politics. In Nairobi, Vincent will investigate the actions of local LGBT associations in their relation to public space.
