FUNCTION: scientific communication and events management

Duration: 3 months (full-time) 

Institution: French Research Institute in Africa (IFRA), Nairobi

IFRA-Nairobi is part of the network of French research institutes under the patronage of both the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). Its mission is to promote research in humanities and social sciences in East Africa and the dissemination of knowledge, and to strengthen institutional and scientific partnerships between East African and French universities or research institutes.

INTERN’s TASKS

1.  Communication

– Regular update of IFRA’s website;

– Regular management of IFRA’s Facebook page and X account;

– Drafting and sending of a monthly digital newsletter.

2.  Events management

– Supporting IFRA’s team in the organization of conferences, seminars and workshops (desk-based research, writing of invitation letters, design of programs and event’s posters). 

– Logistical support for event management.

REQUIRED SKILLS

– Bachelor Degree in the humanities and social sciences;

– Excellent level (written and spoken) of English; good knowledge of French is welcome;

– A first professional experience in the communication sector would be appreciated;

– Computer proficiency, including Office and Canva; proficiency in managing social media, websites; editing skills and proficiency in editing software is highly welcome;

– Excellent interpersonal skills, team spirit, proactivity and autonomy.
