IFRA New Researcher

Henri Médard, a professor of African history at Aix-Marseille University (AMU) and the Institut des Mondes Africains (IMAF), has joined IFRA on a one- or two-year (délégation CNRS) starting in September 2024. He has written extensive work on the history of Buganda, from the 18th century to the early colonial period. His research interests include religion, kingship, slavery, land, islands, sex, and gender. His latest book, Désordre colonial dans la propriété. Une histoire lacustre du royaume du Buganda (1885-1925), published by Africae in Nairobi-Paris, is available as an e-book (2022) and in paper edition (2023).
