Generation Pichadithi – March 11th @6PM

On March 11th,  IFRA Nairobi, in partnership with Alliance Francaise, will present an insightful workshop exploring the significance of the iconic Pichadithi comics series – an essential work of Kenya’s cultural heritage.

Imagined and created by Terry Hirst during the repressive Moi regime, Pichadithi became a powerful voice for narrating the experiences of various Kenyan communities across the country. With a circulation of over 20,000 copies every month, Pichadithi wasn’t just a product of popular print culture but also contributed to shaping Kenyans’ political and cultural consciousness. The event will delve into the production context of Pichadithi, focusing on the personal experiences of those who worked on its creation and development. The speakers will also reflect on how this series continues to resonate in contemporary Kenyan society, preserving vital stories for future generations.

Let’s imagine Pichadithi’s future together !
