Internship Program

IFRA – NAIROBI invites internship applications throughout the year. The program aims to help students gain experience in the field by working with the professional team.

FUNCTION: Scientific communication and promotion officer

Duration: 3 months (full-time)

Institution: French Research Institute in Africa (IFRA), Nairobi (Kileleshwa)

The French Institute for Research in Africa in Nairobi is part of the network of French research institutes abroad under the dual supervision of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). Its mission is to: improve the intelligibility of contemporary dynamics in East Africa and the dissemination of knowledge; promote the training through research of students and researchers in its network; strengthen institutional and scientific links between East African and French universities or research institutes.


1.  Communication

– Regular update of the IFRA website

– Regular management of IFRA’s Facebook page and Twitter account

– Punctual assistance to the organization of conferences, seminars and workshops (invitation letters, programs, posters, event logistics, etc.).

– Writing and sending a monthly digital newsletter

2. Management of the network of students and researchers

– Management of the mailing list, inviting IFRA networks to events.


– 3 years of higher education in the humanities and social sciences, ideally at the Master’s level

– Excellent level (written and oral) in English; good level in French

– A first professional experience in communication would be appreciated

– Proficiency in current computer tools, including Office and Canva; proficiency in social networks, websites; editing skills and proficiency in editing software are a plus

– Excellent interpersonal skills, team spirit, initiative, autonomy in work
